Alvaro Recoba began in top shape for Inter’s 2002/2003 squad, with an assist for Corradi and an excellent goal in the course of half an hour played against Bolton:
"I am very happy, I played a good match. This shows that the athletic preparation is going well and we are doing the proper workout. I am not tired and that is very important. But the most important thing is to arrive well to the Champions League preliminaries. It is an important match and we cannot blunder. These matches allows us to build up our spirit, but we have a lot of desire to do well in championship, because we know we are in debt with the president and with our fans".

Alvaro Recoba shone for Inter against Bolton Wanderers last night. After the Uruguayan came on as a substitute, Inter scored their two goals. Recoba scored one and made the other for Corradi , who will have to buy his team-mate a drink.

"Certainly, he has to [buy me a drink]," was Recoba 's reply when quizzed on the bet he had with his companions. "At times it's said that I'm selfish, but that's not true. Corradi made the right movement in the middle of the box, I just managed to put a good ball in. It doesn't matter whether me or my team-mates score, the important thing is just to score."

Last night's friendly between Inter and Bolton Wanderers at Giglio stadium in Reggio Emilia didn't attract the attention of many spectators, but Inter president Moratti commented before the match how Recoba on his own deserves a crowd of a hundred thousand.

Recoba , who played the final twenty minutes last night, proved the Inter number one right by scoring one and making the other to secure the nerazzurri's 2-0 win.

"It was very good," said Recoba . "But at the moment the results and goals are not important - we have other objectives. We must continue working on our physical fitness."

Recoba , who showed good mobility in exchanging the ball with Morfeo , added, "It's normal that I ran more. Morfeo had played the whole match, I was much fresher. I tried to run as much as possible, I really wanted to because it was my first outing of the season."
