Interview on 2003
23-12-2003
"On the east side it’s very warm. Uruguaian summers
are relaxing."
Alvaro Recoba left Italy Monday evening for Uruguay to spend
Christmas with his wife Lorena, with Natalie who is already is
three years old and his with new born Jeremie. "We are one,
two, three squads. It pleases us to celebrate together".
"I will relax and after two days of rest, I will start to
train, said Recoba before bording on his flight. I promised our
team trainer Baffoni that I will return in shape (Recoba will arrive
with the other south mericans, on 2 January). I cannot stop entirely.
I had some problems in the last months and I must continue to train.
So I decided to involve Lorena: we will train together, even if
she does not always finish the program, Uruguaiana weather will
do me good, seen that lately I have had some pain, perhaps I am
becoming... old”.
A muscle problem in the left thigh. “For ten days I could’t
even kick.” The nagging muscle injury kept Recoba on the sidelines
for almost a month. (Before leaving Recoba underwent a medical check
by Inter’s team Doctor. Prof. Combi.) “For this I wasn’t
able to go to Ivan Zamorano’s party in Santiagobr.
Coming to the end of 2003, what does this year mean
to you?
”A good year when I was healthy. When I analise those healthy days, I can’t
complain. But, when I stepped on the pitch not being at best, things went bad.
It was a needed lession.
