| Does SOMEONE WANT
Recoba OUT?
21-04-2003:
Alvaro Recoba has shocked Inter Milan by claiming someone is trying
to force him out of the San Siro.
The Uruguayan star has been a regular in the Inter team this season,
despite being replaced in the second half of the Nerazzurri's 1-0
win at Brescia on Saturday by Hernan Crespo.
And the Argentina frontman went on to bag the only goal of the
game five minutes into injury time to keep Inter's slim title hopes
alive.
"I have read a number of things about myself in recent weeks,
but all I know is that coach Hector Cuper and president Massimo
Moratti want me to stay in Milan," said Recoba after the game.
"But there is someone else who is perhaps not so keen on keeping
me here.
"I do not know who it is, but as soon as I find out I will
make my discovery public."
Recoba has scored 12 goals in 36 appearances in all competitions
for Inter this season.
He has been used either up front or wide on the left, a role which
has curtailed his creative talent as conservative boss Cuper is
keen for his wide players to track back regularly to help out the
full-backs.
And although he has been a key figure in Inter's bid for honours
in Serie A and the Champions League this season, this latest outburst
is yet another chapter in what has been a turbulent career in Milan.
