Recoba wanted by Palermo
Tuesday 20 April, 2004
Palermo chief Maurizio Zamparini has dreams about signing Inter star Alvaro Recoba in the summer.
"Recoba is an extraordinary player," said the President. "But it is only logical that we could risk bankruptcy if we paid his wages. If he earned less then I would sign him tomorrow."
Zamparini is a massive fan of the Uruguayan after they spent time together at Venezia in the 1998/99 season.
Zamparini was Venezia President back then and he landed the player on loan - as Recoba netted 10 goals in 19 games.
It’s unclear whether Recoba still has a future with the Nerazzurri and Palermo are already planning for next season.
The Sicilians look likely to be playing in Serie A next term and they continue to be linked with some big name players.
