| Recoba to silence critics
18-06-2003
Alvaro Recoba claims that he will use the new season to finally
prove his worth to Inter.
"It is my intention to win back the faith of the Nerazzurri
fans," said the Uruguayan. "I won’t leave this club
as a loser."
The Italian giants confirmed last week that Recoba would remain
despite another disappointing season at the San Siro.
His inconsistent performances did lead to claims that President
Massimo Moratti would consider selling him.
But the club have now reiterated that the attacker is a player
who is untouchable on the transfer market.
"I’m not surprised by the stance that the club has taken
on me," continued the former Venezia player.
"Before the end of last season I spoke to both boss Hector
Cuper and Moratti about the future.
"Neither of them commented about the hypothesis that I could
be leaving the city of Milan this summer."
Recoba’s task to impress wasn’t made that easy last
term as he was sometimes forced to play as a left-sided midfielder.
