Recoba against Empoli

Three minutes after coming on for Obafemi Martins , Uruguayan wizard Alvaro Recoba curled a free kick over the Empoli wall and in at the near post to put Inter 2-1 up.

After the match at the Stadio Castellani Il Chino explained to Inter Channel about the moments leading up to the goal. "He [ Adriano ] asked me if I wanted to take it and I said 'yes, sure'. We're both quite good at shooting on goal from that position. It went well for me, but above all it went well for Inter."

Recoba added: "This fourth place isn't worth anything if we don't win the [ Champions League ] preliminary. Up until then we'll have to stay calm and make the best possible preparations for those two matches."

On leaving the Stadio Castellani after Sunday afternoon's 3-2 victory over Empoli , Inter president Giacinto Facchetti said: "I really want to see Adriano 's goal again, it was fantastic. And also Recoba 's. We scored two decisive and very good goals."
