Captain 'Genius' steers inter through

In the absense of J. Zanetti, Recoba wore the captains armband in tonights 3-1 victory over Bologna in the Coppa Italia quarter final.

"For our equaliser Oba did well to follow the ball that hit the post. His intuition was right," remarked Alvaro Recoba after Inter's Coppa Italia victory over Bologna . "Generally speaking we played a good match, and we didn't deserve to be behind. In any case, we deserved to qualify."

On his own performance Uruguayan continued: "I really needed these ninety minutes to get back into top form, and I'm pleased I didn't get injured because it was a cold evening."

Turning his attention from cup to league, El Chino added: "Now let's think immediately about Reggina and continue our run in the championship. We must show we are on the right path.

"Juventus or Atalanta in the quarter-finals? If I could choose I'd prefer Atalanta because they're weaker than Juventus. But getting through the round today was important.

"Will you have to call me 'genius' from now on? I'll just say that Moratti and Mancini's compliments fill me with pride."
