10-12-2002:
Inter coach Hector Cuper was pleased with Alvaro Recoba's performance
as the Nerazzurri beat Bayer Leverkusen 3-2 in the Champions League.
"Excellent. He was free to move along the whole front line, but
also with a little tactical attention, and he did very well,"
the club's official site quoted the Argentine as saying.
"We could use this tactic again. It is effectively a variation
of the usual system. When we have two strikers and Recoba in a
free role, then it unbalances the central midfield."
When asked what pleased him about his side's performance, he said:
"The great determination. When we recovered the ball in the midfield
we had to go forward immediately in order not to give Bayer time
to line up in defence. The greatest danger was from set pieces
because of their height."
