| SPECIFIC PROGRAMME FOR RECOBA
09-01-2004
Like all the other Nerazzurri, the objective is to have him in tip-top condition.
Which is why Alvaro Recoba has agreed on a specific training schedule with
the club, Alberto Zaccheroni and the medical staff.
Under the supervision of athletic trainer Claudio Gaudino, the
Uruguayan forward began his new programme today, which includes
therapy and sessions in the gym and on the pitch. El Chino will
undergo his second specific session tomorrow as he aims make a
complete recovery from an irritating left-calf problem which has
been causing him pain when striking balls with his favoured left
foot.
"I think the decision taken with the club, the coach and
the medical staff is the best solution at the moment," explained
Recoba to Inter.it. "Unfortunately, although it's nothing
serious, this problem is preventing me from training at best and
being at the service of the squad, which what I want to do so I
can repay the complete trust that Inter transmit to me every day."
Speaking during today's news conference, Nerazzurri head coach
Alberto Zaccheroni said: "Recoba has a physical problem so
I can't have him at his best. Even the medical staff are working
very well to solve this problem. Recoba is a player I'm counting
on a great deal. He has qualities which are decidedly above average
and my objective is to find the way for him to express these qualities
with continuity.
"I'm trying to coach his attention and modify his approach
to his work, training and situations that we prepare during the
week. Since the lad isn't stupid but intelligent, and I speak to
him every day, I can say that he's showing great willingness to
reach certain levels. He gets nervous because he wants to perform,
but he feels a sharp pain when he kicks the ball hard."
